A Note from the President
Dear UMB Staff,
As we wrap up the academic year, I can't help but feel that evermore present sense of time moving faster. It feels like the speed at which our world is shifting and changing grows exponentially. One thing that contributes to this sense is the increasing rate of our technological prowess, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI).
It is becoming more and more obvious that AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we work, teach, and learn at our university. Responsible and ethical AI implementation must be a top priority, ensuring that it aligns with our university's values, protects privacy and security, and promotes fairness and inclusivity. Staying informed about the latest developments and best practices in AI is essential to ensure that UMB remains at the forefront of innovation and discovery.
The Staff Senate is committed to facilitating these conversations, providing resources for learning about AI, and supporting its responsible integration at UMB. We encourage all staff to actively engage in this process, share ideas and concerns, and help shape the future of AI at our university. Let us embrace this exciting opportunity and work towards a future where AI empowers us to achieve even greater heights.
Sincerely,
Aaron Graham
UMB Staff Senate President
