We invite students across all UMB schools, as well as staff and faculty, to a weekly, one-hour Writing & AI Q&A session beginning in February. These informal, drop-in conversations provide space to ask questions about using generative AI for writing — such as papers, discussion posts, reports, articles, and theses — while also exploring academic integrity, ethical considerations, and when AI may or may not support learning.

UMB Writing Center leadership and consultants will facilitate these sessions and provide guidance to attendees about questions and concerns relating to writing and AI. Come share concerns, learn from others, and think critically together about writing in an age of AI.

You can also submit a question about writing & AI before a session via the UMB Writing Center’s website. Answers to these questions, as well as summaries of issues discussed in each session, will be posted on the UMB Writing Center website, in addition to the resources listed in the Center’s Writing & AI resource guide.

Register for these weekly sessions via Zoom and join us on Thursdays at 2 pm US EST, from February 5 to May 7, 2026.

If you require an accommodation for this event, please contact Isabell C. May, PhD, at imay@umaryland.edu or 410-706-4450 with your request, so that we can assist you further. Please submit your requests at least seven (7) business days prior to the event, to give us ample time to review your accommodation requests, and we will make a good-faith effort to provide those accommodations.
