In recognition of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, this virtual fireside chat explores how language access extends beyond translation to shape equity, trust, and effective service delivery in multilingual communities, with particular attention to AAPI populations. Featuring Yan Ma, Language Access Coordinator for Baltimore County, this session will provide practical guidance on how to navigate and request translation and interpretation services, while also examining language access as a civil right within policy and compliance frameworks.

Designed for students preparing to work in diverse professional settings, the conversation will highlight real-world applications of language access and equip participants with tools to better support multilingual communities. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how inclusive language practices strengthen belonging, accountability, and successful service delivery.
