4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Join Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement, the University Student Government Association, the Career Consortium, and Students for Non-Academic Careers for Career Kick-Off, a hybrid event designed to help students explore career pathways, build professional skills, and connect with peers and professionals.
The event will feature an interactive workshop followed by a networking mixer with opportunities to engage both in person and online. Participants can attend the workshop virtually or on campus and choose from in-person or online networking options. Free food will be provided for in-person attendees! This event is open to all UMB students and is a great way to start your year on the right note.
Need accommodations in order to participate? Please email DL-SSLE@umaryland.edu at least a week prior to the event to make your request.
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Join the Office of Student Success Leadership and Engagement (SSLE), the Office of Community and Civic Engagement (OCCE), and the Office of Sustainability for a special Fall Kick-Off: Walking Wednesday x Place to Place event!
We'll meet in front of the SMC Campus Center (621 W. Lombard St.) and walk through UMB's BioPark to OCCE's Community Engagement Center (CEC) located at 16 S. Poppleton St.
This collaborative event is an opportunity to connect with staff from SSLE, OCCE, and the Office of Sustainability while learning about programs, events, and opportunities planned for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Throughout the year, SSLE and OCCE will host "Place to Place" walks, bringing small groups from various points on campus to destinations across UMB's Westside and BioPark communities. The Office of Sustainability will also host Walking Wednesdays, encouraging wellness, connection, and exploration through guided walks. Join us to learn more about these initiatives and other ways to get involved on campus.
We're also excited to partner with Police and Public Safety for this event. Participants will have the opportunity to walk alongside Poe, UMB's Police Comfort K-9, and his handler, PFC Anthony Summer, while learning more about the resources and support Public Safety provides to the UMB community.
Come enjoy a walk, build new connections, discover campus resources, and kick off the academic year with community, engagement, and purpose!
