I hope this newsletter letter finds you refreshed and ready for another productive semester at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. As we embark on this new academic year, I'm excited to reconnect with you all and set our sights on the opportunities that lie ahead.
As members of the UMB community, we play a crucial role in upholding and promoting our core values: respect and integrity, well-being and sustainability, equity and justice, and innovation and discovery. These principles guide our work and help create the vibrant, inclusive environment that makes our campus special.
In this missive, I'd like to emphasize the values of discovery and innovation. UMB offers a wealth of opportunities for personal and professional growth, and I encourage each of you to take advantage of these resources. Whether it's attending a workshop, joining a committee, or exploring a new campus initiative, there's always something new to learn and ways to expand your skills.
Remember, folks: learning isn't just for our students. It's for us too! So, let's lean into those opportunities for self-improvement. Who knows? You might discover a hidden talent for interpretive dance or finally master the art of replying all... appropriately.
Your dedication and hard work are the driving forces that make UMB an exceptional place to work and learn. As we move forward into this new semester, let's continue to support one another, push boundaries, and strive for excellence in all we do.
The Staff Senate's Community Outreach Committee is excited to announce our partnership with the Community Engagement Center (CEC) and WJZ for the School ReSupply Drive!
As you know, many of our younger neighbors face challenges accessing basic school supplies, which can impact their learning and well-being. This drive is our chance to directly support these students and help them start the school year off right.
This past June, the Staff Senate asked for your participation in an anonymous survey to get your feedback on changes you may be experiencing commuting to and from campus before and after the Key Bridge collapse on March 26, 2024. A total of 119 employees responded. Thank you all for your participation.
We summarized the results and shared them with senior leadership. We are currently awaiting their response and will provide further updates when available.
