Change is a constant, and with possible shifts on the horizon, we know many of you have questions about what the future might hold. While the details may still be unfolding, one thing remains the same—the Staff Senate is here to listen, support, and advocate for you.
Our role isn’t to shape policy, but to ensure that employee voices are heard by those who do. Whether you have a question, a concern, or just want to share feedback, we encourage you to use our anonymous UMBengaged form.
Every submission is reviewed by the Staff Senate Executive Committee, and while we may not always be able to provide immediate solutions, we will work to connect you with senior leadership and ensure your concerns are acknowledged.
In times of change, it’s important to remember what anchors us. UMB’s Core Values continue to guide our work, and we see these values demonstrated across campus daily.
If you know a colleague who embodies these principles—someone who goes above and beyond to support our community—we invite you to nominate them as a Core Values Champion. Let’s recognize the individuals who inspire us and make a lasting impact on UMB.
As always, we are here for you. If there’s something on your mind, please don’t hesitate to reach out—your voice matters.

UMB Staff Senator Spotlight
What’s something you’ve accomplished on the Staff Senate during your time as a Senator?
I have enjoyed participating on the Board of Regents Staff Awards Committee. It is great to be a part of positive encouragement for staff to be recognized. I hope to continue to connect with colleagues across campus.
What’s a fun vacation that you’ve taken or would like to take?
My family visited Guadaloupe, the French island in the Caribbean.
It was like visiting Europe in a tropical environment with great scuba diving. Exploring the island and the Jacque Cousteau Underwater Reserve, along with visiting the film set of “Death in Paradise,” a Britbox series, was fun.
What’s your most prized possession and why?
I would consider my scrapbooks my prized possessions. I have scrapbooked for nearly twenty years. The memories in those books cannot be replaced. My family enjoys looking at the things we have done and places we visited, and it allows us to relive those happy times.
What’s the theme song to your life?
"Don’t Stop Believin'" by Journey would be my life theme song. There will be some wins and some losses, but life will go on.
See You Soon!
Our next meeting is Thursday, March 6th from noon to 2 p.m.
All UMB staff members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
