Volunteer with NOVA at the Carver Vocational High School After School Program. We need 6-8 volunteers to run scientific demonstrations for 12 high school students. The demos are easy to learn, and do not require an extensive scientific background for volunteers to participate! The stations will include:
1) the robotic claw - control a robotic arm with EMG signals from your own muscles
2) human-human interaction - control a friend's arm with EMG signals from your own muscles
3) it's all about perception - using inversion goggles to challenge the brain's visual perception
4) neuroanatomy - compare mouse, rat and human brain structures using real preserved brains!
Carpools can be arranged, and will leave the UMB campus around 3:00. The event itself will run from 3:30 - 4:30.
